North East angling enthusiasts had a unique opportunity to see some top anglers from Scotland in action on Sunday 26^th October 2008 at the 12^th Annual Sharpe's of Aberdeen angling competition held at Loch Insch Fishery Ltd, Colpy.

The competition was sponsored by leading fishing tackle manufacturers Sharpe's of Aberdeen Ltd and Clan Nets (Chris Baird).

This year this popular competition attracted 90 anglers from many parts of Scotland. The teams were from Fife, Lothian, Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Moray, Perth and Aberdeenshire and included several anglers who fish for the Scottish International Team.  Also fishing was the Captain of the Scottish Disability Team.   

The fifteen teams of six competed for the Sharpe's Challenge Shield with Bottles of Champagne, Vodka, Whisky and wine, kindly donated by Bob and Pat McWilliam, of Forgue fish farm, as well as a fabulous array of Reels, Rods, Bags & Nets donated by Sharpe's of Aberdeen and Clan Nets. 

The Top Four Team Winners of the Event were as follows:

1^st Aberdeen District Ang Assoc with 66 fish weighing 150lb 11 oz
2^nd Sharpe Shooters   with 60 fish weighing 140lb 09 oz
3^rd The Glens    with 55 fish weighing 138lb 11 oz
4^th Dynamics    with 62 fish weighing 132lb 13 oz

The Individual Winners were as follows:

1^st Steven Corsar- Dynamics with 21 fish weighing 44lb 12 oz
2^nd Ernie MacKay - ADAA with 17 fish weighing 40lb 05 oz
3^rd Jim Lister- Sharpe Shooters with 16 fish weighing 39lb 04 oz
4^th David Chalmers - Hedgehogs with 16 fish weighing 35lb 08 oz
5^th Greg Davie - The Glens with 12 fish weighing 35lb 03 oz
6^th Kevin Neri - Bennachie with 15 fish weighing 35lb 02 oz
7^th Jock Royan - Spey Ghillies with 12 fish weighing 32lb 14 oz
8^th Jim Crawford - Sharpe Shooters with 12 fish weighing 32lb 06 oz
9^th Stuart Malcolmson - The Glens with 11 fish weighing 31lb 14 oz
